Le Ceped est une unité mixte pluridisciplinaire de recherche en sciences sociales associant l’Université Paris Cité (ex Paris Descartes) et l’IRD. Les recherches de l’UMR portent sur les relations entre population et développement dans les pays du sud (Afrique, Asie, Amérique latine, Monde arabe), à travers trois axes thématiques : « Santé, genre et vulnérabilités au Sud » ; « Migration, Pouvoir, Développement » ; « Education et Savoirs au Sud ». Son approche est interdisciplinaire, mobilisant la démographie, la sociologie, l’anthropologie, les sciences politiques, la santé publique, la socio-linguistique, le droit, l’économie, en partenariat avec des équipes de recherches du Sud.
